bubble bubble...

bubble dresses are making a comeback this year, adding a playful yet sophisticated touch to contemporary fashion. characterized by their voluminous, gathered hems, these dresses offer a sculptural silhouette that contrasts with the sleek lines of previous seasons. from mini to maxi lengths, bubble dresses are versatile enough for various occasions, whether it's a casual day out or an elegant evening event.
Styling Tips for Bubble Dresses:
-
Casual Day Look:
Pair a bubble hem skirt with a simple, fitted tank top or a cropped blouse. Opt for comfortable sandals, ballet flats, or trendy sneakers. Accessories like a wide-brimmed hat and oversized sunglasses can add a chic, laid-back vibe.
-
Evening Glam:
Choose a bubble hem dress in a luxurious fabric like silk or satin. Elevate the look with strappy heels or elegant pumps. Complete the ensemble with statement earrings and a clutch bag for a touch of glamour.
-
Office Chic:
Combine a bubble hem skirt with a tailored blazer or a crisp blouse. Go for classic loafers or low-heeled shoes. Keep accessories professional with a structured handbag and minimal jewelry.
-
Monochromatic Palette:
Stick to a monotone or monochromatic look (all-black, all-white, or all neutrals) to keep your outfit from seeming too costume-like. Experiment with accessories to add a pop of color or add textural contrasts by wearing the bubble hem over mesh pants.
whether you're aiming for a whimsical daytime ensemble or a dramatic evening look, bubble dresses offer endless styling possibilities. their architectural design and feminine appeal make them a standout choice for fashion-forward individuals looking to make a statement.

hey guys, hey!
if you're here, that means that you are one of my stylish friends!
last year, i took a lil hiatus because it was wedding year -- your girl had 2 weddings -- and i needed some time away to get down the aisle (and to the altar) with peace of mind.
before i took my leave, i created a STYLE GUIDE/daily journal for the girls who want to delve deeper into understanding their style profile, all while feeling overall inspired. i never got the opportunity to publicly promote and share about it, so here we are, be sure to grab yourself a copy.
we are here now, and we are growing!
i am thrilled to relaunch COLI'S CLOSET with fresh energy, new inspiration, and a sharper focus on personal style, seasonal trends, and all things chic and mostly outside of the box.
i will try my best to post weekly, if not, you are allowed to check me lol
so, whether you’ve been following from the beginning or you’re just joining the journey, this space is all about celebrating fashion as a form of self-expression.
get ready for outfit ideas, styling tips, behind-the-scenes moments, shop the looks (or similar styles), and honest takes on what’s happening in the world of fashion.

JUST BLAZE!
blazer [ˈblāzər]
noun
a lightweight jacket, typically solid-colored, often worn as part of a uniform by members of a club, sports team, or school;
a plain jacket, typically dark blue, not forming part of a suit but considered appropriate for formal or semiformal wear.
yes. i know, i've styled this blazer in other posts, but as i've stated,
she is my fave--yes, SHE is!
i found her one evening on a browse in the H&M over in Herald Square.
the best part--she was on sale for $15 USD!
unfortunately, her current retail value is still $70 USD. i assume that it's because it was either an online return, or just that they were low on physical in-store inventory, either way, i found it, i gagged, and i purchased.

LET'S "JUMP" INTO IT!
March 3rd, 2024
jump·suit ˈjəmp-ˌsüt.
what is a JUMPSUIT?
a one-piece garment consisting of a blouse or shirt with attached trousers or shorts.
its history goes back to 1919.
they were created as a functional garment for parachutists to jump from planes.
when did they become a thing?
in the 1930s, fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli began designing jumpsuits for women.
her designs were the talk of the town but were worn by only a few.
then came the sporty styles by the American designer Vera Maxwell in the mid-1940s.
it was popular but was a novelty item.
what body type do jumpsuits look good on?
no matter your body type, there is a jumpsuit out there for you!
your jumpsuit should make you feel confident and stylish--and it should also flatter your figure.
here are a few tips if you’re wondering what the perfect jumpsuit dress for women is for your body type:
-
if you have a pear-shaped body, look for a jumpsuit with a fitted top and a flared bottom...this will help to balance out your proportions and give you a beautiful silhouette.
-
if you have an hourglass figure, you’ve got it! sis, any type of jumpsuit will look great on you...just make sure to choose a style that fits well in the waist and accentuates your curves.
-
if you're petite, look for a jumpsuit with a cropped or wide-leg silhouette--right up my alley, because, this 5 feet even diva, would never let a trend pas her by...finding this silhouette, will help to create the illusion of a longer and leaner frame--let's go!
-
if you're plus-size, look for a jumpsuit with a defined waist and flowing fabric...this will help to accentuate your curves and create a slimming effect.
what's the difference between a romper and a jumpsuit?
much like rompers, jumpsuits are one-piece items of clothing, however, they are usually long and cover the legs, while rompers can be either short or long legged.
so, in hindsight, they really can be referred to as the exact same item of clothing--let's be honest!
are jumpsuits trendy?
jumpsuits are generally regarded as a garment of convenience, and if you know me, comfort is always key!
in the entertainment world, they are a hit, because they are simpler, lighter and more flexible to wear.
they have become more of a put on and remove garment than an ensemble outfit.
so, yes, it's safe to say that is still a trendy piece of clothing to own...
do you own a jumpsuit?
jumpsuits are a great one-piece option that can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion, and they are also incredibly comfortable and can be a great alternative to dresses or pants.
the jumpsuit is a garment that effortlessly meets the goal of both speed and ease.
it is ideal for a woman's multifaceted lifestyle because it is stylish, easy to wear, and versatile.

suited.
/ˈso͞odəd/
wearing a suit of clothes of a specified type, fabric, or color.
suits for women?
whether for a stylish interview outfit, a power suit, or some other major career event?
i must say, you need at least two in my closet.
(i have a few more, though.)
If there's anything that we've learned from the past, it's that a suit symbolizes freedom and power, while representing the liberated woman.
suits initially made their debut in the year 666 (yikes!) when King Charles II of England got the idea from French king Louis XIV to require men in court to wear waistcoats, trousers, and ties—this later evolved into the modern suit for men.
the suit belonged to men, until 1870. that was until actress, Sarah Bernhardt (a true suffragette), defied the social norms and began sporting a custom trouser suit that she referred to as her "boy's clothes".
by the year 1905, European women had adopted the modern suit as part of their daily wardrobe. up until this time, women wearing pants had been considered a form of cross-dressing and was even often criminalized.
while women's suits were on the rise, fashion designer, Coco Chanel found inspiration from her boyfriend's closet. she recognized that men's clothing was more comfortable and wanted to liberate women from the restrictive clothing of the 1920's, so she merged masculine comfort with a feminine aesthetic.
now, Chanel's suits have dressed women for over 90 years and her tweed styles from the 1920s still remain a symbol of fashion today.
...speaking of today, and judging from the street style outfits at Fall 2023 fashion week and beyond, women’s suits are trending in full force. i think it's safe to say that this trend goes beyond corporate dress codes: fresh new colors and cool, relaxed fits take this look well beyond the office.

kitten heels
it’s official: kitten heels are one of the most popular products right now.
"what is a kitten heel?"
a kitten heel is a short stiletto heel less than 2 inches in height, with a slight curve setting the heel in from the back edge of the shoe.
the style was popularized by Audrey Hepburn, and recent followers of the fashion include Hailey Beiber, Michelle Obama, and Kendall Jenner.
shoes with kitten heels may be worn at work in an office setting by people who wish to wear feminine attire that is still practical.
for parties, kitten heels are an alternative for those who find high heels uncomfortable.
for podiatric comfort, style kudos, and low-key polish, there is no shoe better suited for your feet right now than a low sling-back, pump, or mule. so while you might wince at the return of the itsy-bitsy heel, it's here, and it's on trend.
